Full membership (1 year @ £120, 3 years @ £300) is open to appropriately qualified*, registered and affiliated* practitioners and health professionals as shown below. Full members have full access to the online member community including a Professional Profile (if desired), and to the member-only information and resources published by the Society. Full members can vote at General Meetings, can stand for election and can serve on the Board of the Society (subject to provisions as to the make-up of the Board).
Medical Practitioner (GPs and Specialists), Dental Practitioner, Chiropractor, Psychotherapist, Diabetes Educator, Dietitian, Exercise or Sports Physiologist/Scientist, Acupuncturist, Nurse, Practice Nurse, Midwife, Nutritionist, Occupational Therapist, Optometrist, Osteopath, Paramedic, Pharmacist, Physiotherapist, Podiatrist, Psychologist, Social Worker, other clinical educators/workers.
Non-practitioners with graduate or post-graduate qualifications in health-related fields:
Researcher, Educator, Academic, Scientist, Public health professional, Health policy professional.
You will need to provide details on request of: Post nominals (the letters after your name), Professional registration board/s and registration number/s, Professions for which you are qualified to practice, your main profession, other professions, any specialty, any additional training or experience
Information you provide will be checked against the public registers of the respective board, council, society or association you are registered with. You will not need to provide any documents unless we are unable to confirm your registration via an online search.
We welcome international members but if we are unable to check your registration online, you may need to provide suitable documents in English or with a verified translation.
‘Appropriately qualified’ usually means a degree level qualification or higher
‘Registered and affiliated’ means that you hold current registration or affiliation with a board, council, society or association appropriate to your profession/s.
Associate membership (1 year @ £60, 3 years @ £150)
Associate membership is open to practitioners and health professionals not meeting the requirements for Full membership. Associate members do not have voting rights and cannot serve on the Board of the Society, but otherwise can participate in the member community (with the exception of the Professional Profile) and receive access to the member-only information and resources published by the Society.
It’s a great way to connect with like-minded professionals while supporting BSLM’s work.
Examples of professions eligible for Associate membership include: Fitness instructor, Personal trainer, Health coach, Nutrition advisor, Massage therapist, Meditation teacher, Reflexologist, Yoga teacher, Yoga therapist, Hypnotherapist, Alexander Technique practitioner, Bowen Technique practitioner, Ayurvedic practitioner, Homoeopath, Naturopath or Herbalist, Chinese Medicine Practitioner.
Please note that Associate membership must not be misrepresented for credentialing purposes.
Subscriber membership (1 year @ £30, 3 years @£75)
Members of the public are invited to join BSLM as subscribers to receive access to information and resources published by the Society. It’s a great way to be kept informed while supporting our work.
Student membership (Free)
Student membership, (currently free of charge) is open to those studying towards a qualification which on completion, would qualify for Full or Associate membership. Student membership is not applicable to those who already have another qualification that would qualify for membership.
Organisation membership (£500pa)
Organisation membership is open to companies, organisations and groups supporting BSLM’s aims and objectives. Organisation membership can include a number of Full or Associate memberships.
