Job Summary
An exciting opportunity for two 12-month Fellowships in Lifestyle Medicine and Public Health within the School of Public Health at Imperial College London starting August 2022.
These posts will provide clinically experienced junior doctors a unique opportunity to enhance their knowledge and skills in lifestyle medicine, public health, global health and medical education. This may be taken as an out of programme experience (OOPE) or as a year between foundation, core or higher specialty training programmes.
You will be based within the Undergraduate Public Health Education section of Imperial’s School of Public Health (Department of Primary Care and Public Health) with commitments across Imperial’s Faculty of Medicine at both undergraduate and postgraduate level.
Duties and Responsibilities
You will be required to teach and facilitate on courses across the 6 years of the MB BS degree, in particular within the Lifestyle Medicine and Prevention modules in Years 1 and 2 of the programme, within the Global Health intercalated degree programme (Year 4) and within the Medical Biosciences (BSc) programmes.
Lifestyle Medicine and Prevention comprises two flagship modules launched in 2019 and 2020 as part of Imperial College School of Medicine’s major review of undergraduate medical teaching. The new Lifestyle Medicine and Prevention teaching is highly innovative exploiting a wide range of technological and pedagogical advancements. The modules are blended (being taught online as well as through small group clinician-led teaching) and through immersive research experiences.
You will also develop teaching resources related to teaching activities and assessment and be involved with curriculum development and design, developing and evaluating new teaching sessions and undertaking related medical education research.
As part of the role, you will construct examination questions for the written and practical exams, and mark coursework and examinations.
Ongoing training is provided within the department and in collaboration with the College’s Educational Development Unit (EDU). There are opportunities for external training and attending relevant conferences and meetings are also available.
