• there are almost 16% fewer fully qualified GPs in the UK than other high-income countries relative to our population
• the number of nurses working in the community fell by at least 5% between 2009 and 2023
• a reduction of nearly 20% in the number of health visitors – who can be crucial to development in the first 5 years of a child’s life – between 2019 and 2023
• over the period 2010-2020, every year, 4.3 million people became unpaid carers – 12,000 people a day (Petrillo and Bennett, 2022).
The government and NHS will unveil a refreshed workforce plan in the summer with a focus on shifting care from hospitals and into the community, moving from analogue to digital and focusing on prevent with the aim of getting the NHS back on its feet and fit for the future. We welcome this support to Primary Care but the reality is that it’s not going to be an overnight fix.
Join us for this one day, CPD Accredited “Workforce First” Study day where we’ll talk about how you can support yourself first, ensuring you’re in a better position to support your patients.
