Participants will understand the diversity of the South Asian diet and the three main dietary patterns found in our MASALA cohort study. They will recognise the distinction between healthy and unhealthy plant-based foods and how they are associated with future risk of developing type 2 diabetes.

  1. Recognise the different dietary patterns, and associa-tions with diet and metabolic diseases among U.S. South Asians
  2. Understand the effects of acculturation on health
  3. Recognise differences in body composition and how this may influence health
