Following on from the excellent evening with Dr Deepak Ravindran and Dr Meera Tewani, the BSLM Chronic Pain SIG invites you to their second webinar. Alicja Wypasek a BSLM diplomate and Functional register nutritionist with UKVRN will talk about how to utilise nutrition to help manage chronic pain and Dr Barbara Phipps a BSLM trustee and GP will discuss how to manage chronic pain in primary care using a Lifestyle Medicine approach.

Dr Barbara Phipps, NHS GP

Dr Barbara Phipps is an NHS GP with 20+ years of experience. She is also an ICF certified coach and has a special interest in Lifestyle Medicine, chronic pain and social prescribing.


Alicja Wypasek, Professional Nutritionist & Certified Lifestyle Medicine Professional

MSc Food Science & Nutrition, MSc Biochemistry, ANutr, PT, Certified in Lifestyle Medicine (Dip BSLM/IBLM)

Alicja is a fully qualified and registered nutritionist with a Masters in Nutrition she is a certified Lifestyle Medicine Practitioner, with a wealth of experience helping people to become healthy, energised and fit. Alicja aims to treat the root cause of most modern conditions, by not focusing only on the symptoms. Alicja has a passion in biochemistry and was trained by The Institute for Functional Medicine in Therapeutic Food Plans and Personalised Nutrition.

Alicja is a full member of Plant Based Health Professionals UK. She promotes whole food plant-based nutrition as part of her programme for treating chronic health conditions.

Alicja is passionate about food and firmly believes that what you eat has a profound effect on health and wellbeing. She is involved in a community programme for chronic pain, running group consultations with a local GP as well as a speaker with Footsteps Festival.

Alicja is a mentor for Nutrition students as part of a mentoring programme at Queen Margaret University in Edinburgh.

In her free time, she enjoys running, hill walking and scrambling with her family. Alicja loves travelling and visiting local farmers markets around the world to learn and discover new exotic foods with potential curative benefits.
