BSLM Membership Now Approved For Tax Relief

We are pleased to announce that the British Society of Lifestyle Medicine (BSLM) has been approved by the Commissioners for HM Revenue and Customs under Section 344 of the Income Tax (Earnings and Pensions) Act 2003 with effect from 6 April 2022.

The organisation’s name will appear in the list of approved bodies on Gov.UK (List 3). This means that Members can now claim tax relief against annual Membership fees paid. We are told there may be a short delay before HMRC staff receive notification of the organisation’s approved status. If members wish to obtain a deduction for their annual subscription before the list is updated on Gov.UK, they should explain when contacting HMRC that the organisation has only recently been approved and quote the Head Office reference above.

Reacting to this news, BSLM Executive Director Dr Fraser Quin has a message for BSLM Members:

“It is fantastic to see that BSLM Members are now able to claim tax relief on annual membership fees. In this current economic climate, with the cost of living crisis very much a pressing issue for most, I am glad that our members are able to see this come into effect. Being able to provide key value to our members is a core principle we have at BSLM, and it is great that this can now be done at a lower cost to everyone.”
