The British Society of Lifestyle Medicine is delighted to announce the appointment of Dr Clare Nieland as its new President.
A GP Partner, GP Trainer and Lifestyle Medicine Physician, Dr Nieland has been an active member of BSLM for many years and is passionate about advancing evidence-based lifestyle medicine across the UK.
Alongside her NHS role, Clare is Medical Director and Co-Founder of Windsor Wellness Clinic and works as a Longevity and Lifestyle Medicine Physician at Hooke London. Throughout her career she has championed prevention, clinician education and patient empowerment, believing that lifestyle medicine should become a routine part of healthcare delivery.
As President, Clare hopes to build on the remarkable progress BSLM has already made in establishing lifestyle medicine as a respected, evidence-based medical discipline.
“It is an enormous honour to be named President of the British Society of Lifestyle Medicine. BSLM has played a pivotal role in transforming lifestyle medicine from a growing movement into a respected professional discipline, supported by a robust evidence base and recognised accreditation. I am excited to build on those foundations with our members, partners and Board over the coming years.”
Clare is particularly passionate about supporting healthcare professionals at every stage of their careers and ensuring that lifestyle medicine becomes accessible across all healthcare settings.
Looking ahead, she believes BSLM has an exciting opportunity to strengthen professional education, expand collaborations, increase public awareness and continue setting the standard for evidence-based lifestyle medicine in the UK.
“Lifestyle medicine is no longer an optional extra—it is fundamental to tackling the burden of chronic disease. My ambition is for BSLM to continue leading the way in education, professional standards and advocacy, while inspiring more clinicians to integrate lifestyle medicine into everyday practice. Ultimately, I want patients to actively seek out BSLM-accredited professionals because they recognise the quality, credibility and evidence that accreditation represents.”
