Ellen is an NHS GP with experience supporting treatment and remission of long-term conditions through supported lifestyle change. She has a post-graduate diploma in obesity and weight management alongside SCOPE certification, is board certified in Lifestyle Medicine and has a certificate in human nutrition. She works with the Type-2 Diabetes Remission Programme (NHS LCD Pilot) across the UK and has set-up group clinics to support patients with lifestyle changes in Northants and Oxfordshire.
As BSLM vice-president she continues to support the team, having set-up the Learning Academy and written the foundation course in Lifestyle Medicine. She is a strong supporter of the wider primary care team having mentored primary care nurses and social prescribing link workers. She is an RCGP representative and advisor.
Championing healthcare policy that supports people to live healthy lives, she has worked with NHS England, the RCGP and Department of Health and Social Care on issues around person-centred care and weight management.
She teaches lifestyle medicine at Oxford University and lectures at several medical schools, GP training and trainer events whilst editing a textbook for Cambridge University Press on Lifestyle Medicine with a team at Imperial College London.
