Michael has been a GP Partner at Birley, Sheffield since 1993. He graduated from the University of Sheffield in 1989 and completed VTS in 1993.He has an interest in medical education and is a Foundation Tutor, supervising and training postgraduates and examines for The University of Sheffield His main clinical interests are Urology, Respiratory Medicine and Mental Health. He helped set up a peer led triaging referral service for Primary Care Sheffield. He triages Urology referrals from Primary Care to Secondary Care with 2 GP colleagues. The Service is known as CASES and covers 9 specialties in Sheffield and is peer led , not referral management. He has worked for St Wilfrid`s Day Centre for vulnerable and homeless people in Sheffield until 2018. He was also a trustee for Lost Chord until 2018, a music charity visiting care homes across the UK providing music therapy for dementia sufferers. Currently he is a Trustee of The Children`s Sleep Charity aiming to share the message that good quality restorative sleep is hugely important for children. Michael has written and self-published a children`s picture book based on a true story in order to encourage reading and bed time story telling, Canary Across The Mersey.
