Dr Mishkat Shehata
MBBS, MPH, DRCOG
Dr Shehata is an Academic GP trainee in Birmingham, an RCGP AiT West Midlands committee member and ST3 representative for Birmingham City VTS. As part of her academic role, she is an Academic Clinical Fellow at the Unit of Academic Primary Care in the University of Warwick, where she works on lifestyle medicine-related research. She completed her undergraduate medical training in Sudan and her postgraduate dual-degree in public health with specialization in health service delivery and disease prevention in Sheffield and Copenhagen.
Dr Shehata has a specialist interest in lifestyle medicine as a portfolio GP career. She is extremely passionate about treating non-communicable diseases via lifestyle interventions and has made her current training practice a “Parkrun practice”. She is also involved in promoting and organizing events aimed at raising awareness of the importance of lifestyle medicine and social prescription amongst GP trainees. She is honoured to be a part of the BSLM family & movement and hopes she can utilise her role as West Midlands Regional Director to reach a wider audience to bring about change by making lifestyle medicine an integral part of the GP consultation.
Dr Shehata enjoys high-intensity interval training (HIIT) and meditation.
